IndiGo ranked 6th largest carrier in the world by passenger volume in OAG Frequency & Capacity Statistics for March 2022

 

National, April 12 2022: India’s leading carrier – IndiGo has been ranked the 6th largest airline by passenger volume in the OAG Frequency & Capacity Statistics for March 2022. According to the report, IndiGo had carried more than 2.02 million passengers in the month, as per data collected till 28 March 2022), which the highest for any carrier in Asia.

OAG also called out IndiGo as the fastest growing airlines in the world, with a frequency increase of 41.3% in the month. The report also ranks IndiGo among the Top 10 airlines in the world by seat capacity for the month of March 2022.

The OAG Frequency & Capacity Statistics data lists the 20 largest global airlines by flights based monthly, in addition to statistics on airport and route capacities. IndiGo is the only Indian airline to feature in this list.

In addition to the capacity increase in March 2022, IndiGo has recently announced the re-introduction of scheduled operations of more than 150 international flights from various airports in India in April. IndiGo has also added several new routes to its domestic network.

IndiGo appoints Neetan Chopra as Chief Digital and Information Officer  

India: InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) appoints Neetan Chopra as Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO). He will join IndiGo with effect from January 03, 2022. Neetan, with over 25-years’ experience will take on this newly created role.

Neetan is currently the “Group Chief Technology Officer” at Dubai Holding and was previously a Senior VP of IT & Innovation at Emirates. Having begun his career at Accenture Consulting in India in early 1992, Neetan moved to the UAE and joined Emirates in the year 1995 as a Senior IT Manager. From thereon, he steadily grew with Emirates before leaving them in 2018 and joining Dubai Holding as their Group CTO.

The newly created role of CDIO will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology and digitalization initiatives as an integral part of the of IndiGo’s business strategy. Neetan will spearhead the digitization of IndiGo’s operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, customer centricity and analytical capability, as well as drive the co-creation of new digital business models with internal and external partners and the larger technology ecosystem. Neetan will be responsible for all aspects of IndiGo’s information technology and systems, processes, and organization, with a strong focus on attracting, retaining, and developing key IT and digital talents.
